Sheffield Is My Home And A Place I Love.

After a difficult start in life, I have always been blessed with having an amazing family and great friends and they are the ones that have helped me grow into the person I am today, Independent, kind, loving, helpful, thoughtful, smart and funny and as my Carer tells me an all round truly special person.

My disabilities have never stopped me from trying to do things, I am so persistent and can be stubborn but I get there in the end and that always makes me feel really good as I do not give in easily.

I went away to boarding school when I was 13 till I was 16 and that taught me all different life skills, after there I went on to college until I was 19 and then I moved into my own flat and had Carers.

The first ever carer I had was called Janet and she has become more of a lifelong friend to this day. I have so many great memories.

My 2 Gran's Connie and Margaret were always there for me and we did a lot together and I miss them a lot, especially when snooker is on TV because my gran Margaret and I use to watch it together as well as playing Cards. She taught me how to play Rummy, Patience and Snap.

We also use to play Bingo together at her house in Lodgemoor. She use to bake a lot and she would let me help, I use to do the mixing and my favourite part would be licking the spoon afterwards and it was yummy!! I love the smell of baking it always reminds me of her to this day.

My other Gran Connie lived in Stannington but later on moved to Dore when the steps to her flat got too much for her. She use to take me to Millhouses Park in my wheelchair and we would feed the ducks and then watch the trains go by and we would wave to them, something I now do with my Dad as he takes to see them at Dore Train Station.

There are so many special people in my life and so many memories I have to treasure and all I can say is I feel very lucky and truly blessed to have each and everyone and if everyone was as nice and kind as them the world would be a much better place.

Sheffield is my home and a place I love.
