Haiku

Haiku

Today the group worked on poems using haiku which is a type of a short poem that originated from Japan. There are seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five, traditionally evoking images of the natural world. We talked about what we could see and smell in our houses and through the window.

Meadowhall lit up

Pots on the window sill

Clouds and cars outside window

Distant cars and trucks

Motorway driving

With Kepple’s column in view

Trees blowing in wind

Shadowing back of houses

flaming autumn leaves

Pet birds twittering
